Pottery Town - The Heritage Town of Bengaluru.

 

Today is the Day..  We INDIAN ROOTS team initiated to stand against demolish of Pottery Town.

It was  May 2019, Bengaluru’s iconic Pottery Town was  likely shut its doors as the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) which was about to  demolish the Town for Metro construction. The BMRCL were about to begin construction for underground sections of the Gottigere-Nagavara line in May.

If this wluld have happend the 200 yrs old heritage of bengaluru would have been lost . The life of  40 families families living there would have been scattered.

On 1st May 2019 which is a ""labour day""  we stood together with pottery town residents and  demanded governmenrt to retain this traditional village or provide a seperate place to setup new potters town.

We heard their stories and history of this place, made memories of making pottery.

Today Pottery Town is safe and flourishing.

Government heard our plea and decided to save our heritage town. 

I thank once again whole "INDIAN ROOTS" community who stood firm and came forward to save our pottery town of Namma Bengaluru
