Gaushala - Holi celebration

Indian festivals are all about spreading joy and love.Holi is considered as one of the most revered and celebrated festivals and it is celebrated in almost every part of the country. The vibrancy of colors is something that brings in a lot of positivity in our lives and Holi being the festival of colours is actually a day worth rejoicing. We are known to eat sumptuous food with family and friends. But how often do we include the daily wagers, domestic workers, etc, in our merry making.

Hence, this Holi Indian Roots headed out to celebrate with the workers of Akhila Prani Dhaya Sangha. This animal shelter was established in 1982. It provides shelter, food, and medical care for over 1100+ rescued, injured and abandoned cattle.

We wanted to share a day of happiness with the caretakers of the cows since they have such compassion towards the animals. The staff are courteous and prompt. This was an opportunity to let our volunteers know that the festivals are not limited only to one's only family.
